Quality Dental Implants by Dr. Mike Errico

Dental implants are an integral part of restorative dentistry, allowing Dr. Errico to attach a dental prosthetic when the tooth structure is completely absent. Let’s face it: no one wants to smile when they have a missing tooth. Without a dental implant, your options are limited to solutions such as removable bridges or dentures, which can alter your speech and make eating difficult.
The dental implant replaces the missing tooth root with a small metal bar. Dr. Errico can then attach a crown, a permanent bridge, or a partial denture. If several teeth are missing, a multi-tooth implant can be used.
Getting an implant is a multi-step process that begins with minor oral surgery. During this process, Dr. Errico will anchor a small titanium rod into your jawbone. This rod simulates the missing tooth root and is held in place by the jawbone and gum tissue above. With the rod in place, a temporary prosthetic made from a mold will be attached. The healing process takes around six to twelve weeks, after which you will return to our office.
This healing period allows for “osseointegration”, which means the bone and gum tissue grows around the implant, providing support just like they would for a normal tooth. Next, Dr. Errico will attach your permanent prosthetic, which has been custom-made in a dental lab. The restoration is matched to your tooth color and shaped to fit, so it looks and feels just like a regular tooth!

How Dental Implants Can Benefit You
Having a missing tooth isn’t a pleasant experience. Not only does an implant fill the unsightly gap in your smile, it carries with it a host of other benefits in how you eat, look, and feel. A dental implant from Dr. Errrico:
• Firmly holds restorations in place
• Supports a variety of different restorations
• Prevents gum recession and misalignment of teeth
• Improves the health, confidence, and beauty of your smile
With proper care and routine visits to our office, your dental implants can last you a lifetime!
Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Provided that the patient has sufficient gum tissue and jawbone density, anyone who has missing teeth is a candidate for dental implants. For cases where the gums or jawbone cannot support an implant, gum augmentation or bone grafting can be used. These processes build up gum tissue, or harvest bone from other parts of the body, allowing for the implant to be securely placed.
