CURE YOUR SENSITIVE TEETH

CURE YOUR SENSITIVE TEETH

Don’t feel like you’re alone if you occasionally experience pain when you eat hot or cold food or sometimes when you brush your teeth. Many people feel the effects of sensitive teeth to one degree or another, and there are several ways to effectively deal with this problem.

Hypersensitivity in the mouth occurs when the dentin underneath the protective layers of your teeth and roots becomes exposed and allows hot or cold food and drinks to hit the nerves inside your teeth. Receding gums and tooth decay are major culprits, along with exposed tooth roots and worn tooth enamel and fillings.

So you may be wondering what can be done to cure your sensitive teeth. Well, the first step involves determining what’s causing your problem. A visit to Dr. Michael R. Errico DDS, FAGD, FICOI, PC & Associates will help establish the exact source of your sensitivity— and better yet— help determine the best solution to alleviating your pain.

One solution for your specific pain could simply involve the use of desensitizing toothpaste, which helps to block the transmission of hot or cold sensations to the nerves of the teeth. Dr. Errico might also apply a fluoride gel to strengthen your tooth enamel and reduce the possibility of sensations reaching the nerves. Other solutions involve crowns, inlays, bonding, surgical gum grafts, and root canals, depending on the severity of the problem.

Your sensitive teeth are letting you know something is wrong, so be sure to schedule an appointment with Dr. Errico before the problem gets worse. TOUGH MUDDER

TOUGH MUDDER

On May 10, 2015, Dr. Mike spent some quality time with his daughter and nephew. Together they competed in the Tough Mudder held in Richmond, Illinois. Tough Mudder is a team-oriented 10-12 mile (18-20 km) obstacle course designed to test physical strength and mental grit. Tough Mudder puts camaraderie over finisher rankings and is not a timed race, but a team challenge that allows participants to experience exhilarating, yet safe, world-class obstacles they won’t find anywhere else. These mud events are designed by British Special Forces to challenge the toughest of the tough! Dr. Mike said that his daughter and nephew were two of the youngest competing! They persevered through mud, water, wind and the cold. We congratulate them on a job well done!
