Invisalign® is a brand of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that will give you the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted. The best part is, no one can tell you’re wearing them! Invisalign is great for adults and teenagers.
One of the most popular and pain-free cosmetic dentistry options available, porcelain veneers can give you a beautiful movie-star smile in no time. These thin shells of customized dental ceramic can repair a variety of flaws including chips, cracks, stains, and even misalignment!
Whitening procedures have effectively restored the smile of people with stained, dull, or discolored teeth. The darker tissue of your teeth, the dentin, can become exposed as the outer layer of enamel is worn away by the effects of aging or substances such as caffeine and tobacco.
Teeth reshaping is one of the most convenient, cost-effective options for fixing chipped, uneven or poorly aligned teeth to create a more attractive smile. Dr. Errico often combines shaping or contouring teeth with a treatment called bonding, which involves applying the resin to improve the overall appearance of the teeth. The front teeth are the best candidates for reshaping and bonding.
Not all teeth end up lasting a lifetime. Through the years they sustain wear and injury, which can lead to broken teeth, fractured teeth, or advanced tooth decay. When fillings aren’t an option, your Rolling Meadows dentist may recommend a dental crown.
Dental crowns encase a whole tooth, preserving and restoring it to its original size, shape, and function. This is usually a preferable alternative to complete tooth extraction.
Dr. Mike Errico, DDS can install dental crowns that don’t just serve a good purpose – they look just like a natural, healthy tooth. The crown will be made based on a mold of the original tooth, so it can fit in your mouth comfortably. A temporary crown may be placed before the final crown is ready to be installed.
WHAT MAKES DENTAL CROWNS GREAT?
The first benefit, and the reason why many patients choose them, is that they preserve damaged teeth. Although there are cases where they are necessary, dental extractions have a long healing process and may have more complications following the procedure. The necessary mouth adjustment is usually less for installing a crown than for extracting a damaged tooth and implanting an artificial tooth. Another benefit is that dental crowns give you the look of a dental implant without the intensity of a procedure. The professional staff at Mike Errico DDS and Associates can advise you on what dental procedure can best fit your oral health needs.
We offer permanent and temporary restorative dentistry solutions to restore the look and health of smiles in your area.
Crowns and bridges
Crowns are synthetic caps, usually made of a material like porcelain, placed on the top of a tooth. Crowns are typically used to restore a tooth’s function and appearance following a restorative procedure such as a root canal. When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed, crowns are often used to restore the tooth.
Full and partial dentures are available to replace missing teeth. Dentures not only enhance the look of your smile, they make eating, chewing, and speaking much easier!
Implants are synthetic structures that are placed in the area of the tooth normally occupied by the root. Implants are anchored to the jawbone or metal framework on the bone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. In some cases, implants can be used to attach dentures.
A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. When a dentist gives you a filling, he or she first removes the decayed tooth material, cleans the affected area, and then fills the cleaned out cavity with a filling material.
By closing off spaces where bacteria can enter, a filling also helps prevent further decay. Materials used for fillings include gold, porcelain, a composite resin (tooth-colored fillings), and an amalgam (an alloy of mercury, silver, copper, tin and sometimes zinc).
Here are some common procedures oral surgeons perform, and what you can expect if you’re in line for any of them.
Common Oral Surgical Procedures
Oral and maxillofacial surgery
If you’re facing any form of oral surgery, there are several measures you can take to ensure you’re ready when the time comes. Your dentist will refer you to a dental specialist in the field of surgery you need. During your consultation with the specialist, they might take additional X-rays of your mouth and head to determine precisely what your needs are. They will review your medical history, and it’s important to mention all medications you take including over-the-counter products, vitamins and supplements.
Our general services are for every member of your family to ensure that you have healthy, beautiful teeth that will last a lifetime.
Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which includes the panoramic x-ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-wing x-ray series for proper diagnosis of proximal decay of posterior teeth.
Root canal therapy
Root canals are tiny passageways that branch off beneath the top of the tooth, coursing their way vertically downward, until they reach the tip of the root. Root canal therapy can save a damaged tooth from extraction, as well as preserve the health of the rest of your mouth.
Toothaches & dental emergencies
Tooth pain can have quite an effect on a person’s well-being and state of mind. Our goal is to be available and to help when you need the most. call us in most cases same day emergencies appointment are available when possible. Simple toothaches can often be relieved by rinsing the mouth to clear it of debris and other matter. Sometimes, a toothache can be caused or aggravated by a piece of debris lodged between the tooth and another tooth. Avoid placing an aspirin between your tooth and gum to relieve pain, because the dissolving aspirin can actually harm your gum tissue.
Our goal is to help you to minimize the risk of emergency treatment. This is why we commit a generous amount of time designing a lifetime treatment plan that will help you offset the possibility of unforeseen pain or tooth breakage.
Although permanent teeth were meant to last a lifetime, there are a number of reason why tooth extraction may needed. Our dentist and Oral Surgeon are highly trained in a tooth extraction procedure. Our goal is to make your tooth extraction experience as comfortable and pain-free as possible.
